Battlefield 6 Gamers Agree: Challenges Are Way Too Hard
The launch of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, especially for its premier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. However, in spite of its success, a growing number of players are voicing discontent with a portion of the release's toughest challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.
Users have commenced resorting to personalized games created through the custom game tool to complete them, highlighting just how arduous these assignments have become.
Grasping Battlefield 6 Objectives
Missions serve as Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, in contrast to the frequently updated daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four types of assignments, but although many only reward outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the exclusive means of obtaining 12 of the 41 primary weapons present in the game.
Several of these restricted firearms could shortly earn a place on rankings for the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration on Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are reasonably sharing their frustrations about how challenging and repetitive a number of these challenges are. An individual player emphasized one of the most extreme examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so atrocious and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a quote that summarizes just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many advantages in battle as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
Meanwhile, using an LMG from the hip is extremely unreliable and only works at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you aim to be. That player also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that task would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Ridiculously Tough Task
A different forum member highlighted an additional excessively hard challenge, now in the sniper rifle category to access the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations from more than 200 meters away with sniper rifles
This is difficult enough by itself, but there's one more key thing to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but since there are only nine levels in the game right now, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and perhaps an additional option in a best-case scenario if you want to snipe from a significant distance.
The Workaround
There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. The Battlefield Portal is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on whatever map you choose, complete with bots. This implies you can cheese the system… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.
However, when tackling the tasks in a standard match appears to work against fun, since you have to play in such an atypical style that harms both you and your squad, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?
Potential Changes
It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because if they're not, certain gamers simply will never acquire the locked firearms.
For now, the community continues to share their thoughts on these demanding in-game tasks, anticipating a more balanced player experience in future updates.
