Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Car Fans Are Dreaming Of
We already knew that The Simpsons was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but that's not the only destination where fans can experience the world of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to Rocket League, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in Fortnite. That said, whether players will truly desire to equip it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Springfield car the community is itching to drive, and this isn't it.
The Dream Vehicle
While many gamers would undoubtedly love to face off while driving The Homer—the notoriously impractical automobile Homer designed personally in the 1991 installment "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what's being offered. We aren't even receiving the Canyonero, the heavy-duty truck featured in the tenth season. Instead, players are getting the Simpsons' everyday well-worn four-door, which has been in the family since 1989. Even though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an iconic symbol of the series. For those who analyze Rocket League car hitboxes, the trusty sedan uses the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

Additional Themed Cosmetics
But that's not the sole cosmetic from the series arriving in Rocket League. This limited-time event will also include a series of challenges to unlock more goodies, all of which are Simpsons-themed. As detailed in a press release, the challenges will task participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's seasons, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to the Simpson residence, and drive a distance worthy of picking up the perfect donuts!"
Although the full lineup of earnable items hasn't been disclosed, here is what's been announced up to this point:
- Blinky antenna topper
- Homer's Hedges player banner
- Garbage-themed wheels
- 20,000 experience points for each challenge
If the key art is a reliable guide, it seems players will also get wheels with a television showing the show's title sequence, Kang and Kodos topper, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and rocket boosts themed to burning tires and Krusty's famous restaurant.
Event Timing and Fortnite Connection
The Rocket League collaboration coincides with the major The Simpsons takeover of Fortnite's island, which includes a brand-new playable area of the fictional town, as well as a 30-day Battle Pass. This special Rocket League and Simpsons event launches on November 1st and concludes on Nov. 17.
