Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Arrives, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Beloved Titles
Much like the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will feature once again of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is set to release around the time of the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his companions.
The company has three new games publicly declared for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
